Berliner Philharmoniker play at Ambassador's Residence
On Saturday, 2 March 2013, Ambassador Georg Boomgaarden welcomed high-ranking guests from politics, the diplomatic corps, business and culture to a special concert and reception at his residence on Belgrave Square with members of the world-renowned Berliner Philharmoniker. The event celebrated the close collaboration of the Embassy with two of London’s leading music venues: the Barbican and the Southbank Centre. The Barbican was represented by Chair Catherine McGuinness as well as Managing Director Sir Nicholas Kenyon, while the Southbank Centre was represented by Chief Executive Alan Bishop.
Cordelia Höfer (piano), Kotowa Machida (violin), Manfred Preis (clarinet), Martin Stegner (viola), and Jelka Weber (flute) were five of the 128 world class musicians of the extraordinary orchestra who performed an exquisite programme including pieces by Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, Bruch and Reger on the night.
