The University of Cologne is one of the largest and oldest universities in Germany. True to its motto 'good ideas since 1388', the University continues to successfully combine novelty with tradition in its research and teaching.
The University of Cologne is located in the Rhineland. This mega-urban region has excellent working and living conditions and is one of Europe's most developed research and economic areas.

As a comprehensive university, the University of Cologne covers a broad spectrum of disciplines. Its structure encompasses six faculties of management, economics and social sciences, law, medicine, arts and humanities, mathematics and natural sciences, and human sciences. Currently, 42,000 students are studying at the University of Cologne taking advantage of the large variety of courses.
The international network of the University of Cologne is wide-reaching and well-established, and comprises 20 university-level and about 300 faculty-level partnerships.

There are approximately 4,700 international students at the University of Cologne (academic year 2011/12).
Bachelor Programmes in English
The University of Cologne offers a bachelor programme called “English Studies”, which is completely taught in English and also a programme to get a bilingual Bachelor of Laws (German – English) degree. Besides, there a several courses taught in German which include subjects taught in English.

Tuition fees
For most programmes the University of Cologne does not charge any tuition fees. There are very few master courses for which a tuition fee is charged, but often scholarships cover these completely. However, all students have to pay a small amount for student services, which include a regional ticket for public transport.
