Mission statement

British-German relations are very good and very close. That’s the official line.

And it’s true. But in so many more ways, and at a much deeper level, than many of us are aware.

Our cultures have not just mingled; they have struck common roots. Today Germany is in Britain and Britain is in Germany. Britons have discovered Germany as a country to live in, work in and be inspired by. And for Germans too Britain is no longer just a holiday destination. They come here, settle here, start a business. And they fall in love with Britain and all it has to offer.

Our deep relations are more than just an ideal. Britain and Germany have come a long way, building strong ties which are lastingly enriching our respective cultures.

hier&there is about all the people who, in a very personal way, are putting down our new shared roots. Of course there are famous figures among them. But in all walks of life, there are Germans and Britons right now creating living links between us.

From science to the arts, from business to media, so many life stories prove that we appreciate what we have to offer each other.
