We asked our German Embassy London Facebook Fans what German products, brands or people they thought had made it big in the UK. These were some of their ideas!

Washing machines, dishwashers (e.g. Miele, Bosch), boilers (e.g. Vaillant, Viessmann), bathroom fixtures/taps (e.g. Grohe), garden hand tools (e.g. Wolf)

Brands:
BMW, VW and Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, Grundig, Siemens, Nivea, Haribo, Dr Oetker

People:
Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Emanuel Kant, Gisela Graham (German designer who now lives in the UK), Lord Ralf Dahrendorf, Prince Albert, Goethe, Boris Becker, Bernhard Schlink and Hugo Boss.


 

We also asked what British goods or people were popular in Germany, and these were some of the responses:
Robbie Williams, Cadbury's chocolate, Dyson, The Beatles, J.K. Rowling, the comedy sketch 'Dinner for One', Rover, Aston Martin, whiskey from Scotland, After Eights, Walkers crisps and Sir Simon Rattle.
