Nearly 300 graduates, students and pupils visited German House on Belgrave Square on Wednesday 9th November in order to take part in the Think German Career Fair. They were able to spend time talking to companies about the importance and value of foreign language skills in a competitive job market and to find out more about language courses and exchange programmes with German schools and universities.
Exhibitors at the Fair included a range of businesses (from Allianz to BMW, AirBerlin to Commerzbank, Mahle PowerTrain to Siemens, Munich RE to BSH Home Appliances) and three of the Embassy’s partner organisations: Goethe-Institut, DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and UK German Connection.
The Fair was offically opened and visitors welcomed by the German Ambassador, Georg Boomgaarden. Throughout the day three talks by representatives from the DAAD, the European Commission and Accenture Consulting provided further insight into the relevance of speaking German today.
